Young Innovators Challenge (YIC)

The Young Innovators Challenge (YIC) is a specialised program to foster technology awareness among secondary school students by introducing them to fundamental concepts and emerging trends. This program extension intends to establish a solid background for the participants, preparing them for future technological endeavours.

In its maiden edition held in October 2018

YIC brought together 12 secondary schools, each represented by a minimum of 20 students, for a comprehensive lecture series and an inter-school competition. The lecture series focused on imparting knowledge about pseudo-codes and algorithms, providing the students with essential foundations. As a token of appreciation and encouragement, all participating schools were awarded a brand-new desktop computer. Furthermore, the top two students who demonstrated exceptional performance received new laptops as individual prizes.

The 2019 edition expanded to reach at least 20 secondary schools with lecture series that focus on teaching web design concepts and equipping the students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a career in technology.
